Wainwright, Port Washington and Ridgewood/Renner Addition SSES
It is important that the Sewer District reduce amount of infiltration and inflow (I/I) entering
our sewer systems during wet weather events.
The investigation of the Ridgewood/Renner Addition sewer system did not identify excessive infiltration,
but did identify potential sources of inflow through vented manhole covers and standard manhole frames
and covers in areas susceptible to periodic flooding. District personnel are in the process of replacing
vented manhole covers with solid covers and installing watertight manhole frames and covers in areas
susceptible to flooding.
The District recently acquired state of technology equipment to conduct televised inspections of problems
sewers. This equipment will enhance our investigations of the Wainwright and Port Washington sewer systems,
as personnel and resources permit.
